The person planning to use gold as security to borrow money can wonder if pan card is mandatory for 905000 rs loan. Usually, in any institutional application process, PAN will be required for KYC, identity matching, tax-related compliance, and credit assessment purposes. But the statement that it is mandatory for all loans above ₹50,000 according to the law is not correct.

Under the RBI’s KYC norms, PAN is acceptable along with the relevant declaration for someone without PAN. With effect from 1st April 2026, Form 97 came in place of the older form 60 in the context of income tax regime for certain transactions. There could be lender policies and product requirements making PAN necessary in practice.

This article clarifies that point along with the necessary documents, online verification and other requirements related to a ₹9,05,000 gold loan.

Is PAN Legally Compulsory for a ₹9,05,000 Loan?

The search phrase 905000 loan is pan card mandatory combines two separate questions: what the law permits and what a particular lender requires.

There is no general tax rule under which the value of every loan above ₹50,000 automatically makes PAN compulsory. The often-quoted ₹50,000 limit applies to certain specified transactions, such as cash or investment transactions. It is not a universal loan-sanction threshold.

Regulated lenders nevertheless complete customer due diligence under RBI’s KYC requirements. PAN is commonly collected and verified during this process. Where a customer does not possess PAN, the applicable prescribed declaration may be relevant, subject to current law and the lender’s policy.

Accordingly, is pan card compulsory for 905000 rs loan cannot be answered only by comparing the requested amount with ₹50,000.

Why Lenders Commonly Request PAN

PAN provides a consistent identifier that may help a lender match an applicant’s records across KYC, tax and credit-information systems. It may be used to:

  • verify the PAN details submitted with the application;
  • support identity matching across available records;
  • locate credit information accurately, where a bureau enquiry is undertaken;
  • review existing credit exposure and repayment conduct; and
  • meet applicable reporting and record-keeping requirements.

PAN itself does not establish eligibility. A lender may also assess income, bank-account conduct, existing liabilities and the value of pledged gold.

There is also no RBI-prescribed credit-score threshold for a gold loan. A higher score may support the assessment, but it does not guarantee a lower interest rate, approval or the complete requested amount.

Is there a possibility of Alternate Declaration for PAN?

This issue of pan card needed for 905000 loan becomes more complicated when the applicant does not have PAN. According to the previous process, a person who was eligible to apply for Form 60 can do so for certain types of transactions. From 1st April 2026 onwards, it is mentioned that Form 97 has substituted Form 60 under Income-tax Rules, 2026. Therefore, it is out of date to call Form 60 as the latest alternative without further details.

Alternate declaration is not limited only to farmers or those who earn without taxable income. Also, the existence of an alternate declaration does not necessitate that all lenders should make available all types of loans without PAN.

Note: Applicants without PAN require confirmation from the lender on whether Form 97 is accepted for the proposed facility. An alternative declaration does not guarantee approval or remove other KYC and assessment requirements.

Additional Assessment for a ₹9,05,000 Gold Loan

A gold loan is secured by pledged eligible gold; it is not an unsecured loan. At ₹9,05,000, two RBI requirements are especially relevant.

First, the amount exceeds ₹2.5 lakh. The lender therefore conducts a detailed credit assessment, including an assessment of repayment capacity. PAN may assist this review, but it is not a substitute for financial assessment.

Second, a consumption gold loan above ₹5 lakh is subject to a maximum 75% LTV. At that regulatory ceiling, gold with an assessed eligible value of at least approximately ₹12,06,667 would be needed to support ₹9,05,000:

₹9,05,000 ÷ 75% = approximately ₹12,06,667

This is an illustration, not a promised sanction. A lender may operate below the regulatory maximum.

Documents That May Accompany PAN

The documents required for gold loan processing depend on the KYC method, customer profile, loan purpose and lender policy. A large-ticket application may involve records across three areas.

Identity and address records

The borrower may provide or validate an official valid document, its electronic form, or the CKYCR format. Based on the available channel, it can include a passport, driving license, voter identification card, or other documents. Aadhaar-based validation is also acceptable within the scope of legality and selection.

PAN is not necessarily evidence for the residential address of the person.

Financial and repayment-capacity records

Because the amount exceeds ₹2.5 lakh, the lender may request documents that support repayment-capacity assessment, such as:

  • salary slips or employment records;
  • recent bank statements;
  • income-tax records, where applicable;
  • business-income or cash-flow records for self-employed applicants; and
  • details of existing loans and repayment commitments.

A fixed six-month bank-statement requirement cannot be stated universally. The period and records requested depend on lender policy and the applicant’s profile.

How Online PAN and KYC Verification May Work

An online application generally begins with basic customer and loan details. The precise sequence varies, but it may include:

  1. Entering PAN and other identifying information.
  2. Completing the lender’s permitted digital KYC process.
  3. Allowing retrieval or verification of CKYCR records, where available.
  4. Providing financial records requested for repayment assessment.
  5. Presenting the gold for physical assaying and valuation.
  6. Reviewing the Key Fact Statement and loan agreement if an offer is made.

Aadhaar and PAN do not necessarily have to be “linked” as a separate gold-loan application step. Digital verification also does not remove the physical assessment of pledged gold or ensure approval without a branch interaction.

Gold Valuation Is Separate From PAN Verification

PAN identifies the applicant; it does not determine the value assigned to jewellery. RBI requires gold to be valued according to its actual purity using the lower of the preceding 30-day average closing price or the previous day’s closing price published by IBJA or a SEBI-regulated commodity exchange.

Only the intrinsic value of eligible gold is included. Stones, gems, fastenings and other non-gold elements may not form part of the valuation. The borrower is present during assaying, and the lender provides a certificate recording purity, gross weight, eligible net gold content, deductions and assessed value.

Conclusion

In most cases of ₹9,05,000 gold loan application, PAN will be required as part of the bank’s product requirement. However, in answering is pan card required for a 905000 rs loan, it is not right to use a general loan amount of ₹50,000. Instead, RBI KYC rules and the current income tax system, along with the lender’s product requirements, will apply.

Where no PAN exists, Form 97 will come into consideration based on the April 2026 tax system, provided that one is eligible and acceptable. Ultimately, it will depend on the KYC, repayment ability, current obligation and eligible gold value. It is, therefore, important to understand the lender’s requirements prior to application.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1.

Is a PAN card mandatory for every loan?

Ans.

No, as per the rule on loan value. The regulated lenders usually ask for PAN cards during the KYC process. There can be a prescribed declaration that can be used by someone who doesn’t have a PAN card.

Q2.

Can a ₹9,05,000 gold loan be taken without PAN?

Ans.

It may be possible only where the applicable legal declaration is accepted and the lender’s policy permits the application without PAN. From 1 April 2026, Form 97 replaced Form 60 for applicable specified transactions. KYC, repayment assessment and gold valuation still apply.

Q3.

Is PAN mandatory for paying an EMI?

Ans.

PAN does not itself create or authorise an EMI mandate. Repayments are arranged through the bank account and permitted payment process specified in the loan agreement. PAN may already form part of the lender’s KYC records, but it is separate from monthly debit authorisation.

Q4.

What is the transaction limit without PAN?

Ans.

There is no single monetary limit covering every transaction. PAN requirements vary by the type of transaction listed under the applicable income-tax rules. The frequently cited ₹50,000 threshold applies to certain specified transactions and cannot be treated as a universal limit for all loans.

Q5.

Is Aadhaar enough for a ₹9,05,000 gold loan?

Ans.

Aadhaar might not fulfil all conditions by itself. There can be a condition where the bank needs your PAN or valid declaration, proof of valid address, and proof of repayment capacity along with proper valuation of the eligible gold.
