After raising a query in the IIFL Loans App, a borrower may wait a few days and then start wondering about what comes next. The way to follow up on a gold loan service request matters at this point. A clear follow-up on the original ticket generally moves faster than raising a new one.

Gold loan is a secured loan where gold ornaments are pledged with a regulated lender until it is repaid. This blog covers the details to be kept ready, how the same request is followed up and the escalation routes that IIFL Finance has published.

Details Kept Ready

A follow-up begins with the original request reference, the date it was raised and the latest reply that came in. The loan account number and any supporting record like a statement or payment receipt also help the support team in tracing the issue.

Many borrowers also make a note, in a line or two, of the exact outcome that is still pending. For instance, the borrower may still be awaiting a corrected statement or a payment to show against the right loan.

Following Up on the Same Request

Customer-care queries and service-request tickets are listed in the IIFL Loans App. Where borrowers follow up on a gold loan service request, the original ticket is the natural place to begin. A borrower who wants to check progress on a gold loan service ticket can view the status and latest reply against that reference.

The Request and the Open Point

The existing reference, the original date of submission and the last reply are quoted in the follow-up. It then mentions the one point that is still unresolved, which is of more help than repeating the whole complaint.

The Reply and the Outcome

Once a reply comes in, the loan account is looked at to see whether the change asked for has actually taken place. A ticket marked closed does not by itself show that a payment was credited, a record was corrected or the gold was released.

Documents Required for a Gold Loan

The loan behind any service request starts with a standard KYC (Know Your Customer) file, which generally includes:

  • Photo identity proof, such as Aadhaar, passport or voter ID
  • Address proof, where the identity document does not carry the current address
  • PAN details, generally requested during KYC, with other documents considered in some cases
  • A recent photograph and the jewellery to be pledged

A declaration or other records relating to ownership of the ornaments may be asked for, where the lender's procedure requires it. Any further papers would depend on the loan amount and the lender's assessment.

Eligibility and Valuation

Age, residency and ownership-related conditions are set by the regulations and the lender's own policy. The credit history of the borrower may be looked into in line with internal norms.

The RBI (Lending Against Gold and Silver Collateral) Directions, 2025 were implemented by regulated lenders from April 2026. Where total gold and silver loans go above ₹2.5 lakh, a detailed credit assessment covering repayment capacity is required. At or below this, it is not required, though lenders may apply their own checks.

The LTV (loan-to-value) ceiling stands at 85% for loans up to ₹2.5 lakh. It is 80% above ₹2.5 lakh up to ₹5 lakh, and 75% above ₹5 lakh. Gold is valued at the lesser of the previous day's closing price and the 30-day average on IBJA or a SEBI-regulated exchange. The price is adjusted for purity, and only net gold is counted.

Application Process

  1. The applicant approaches a regulated lender, at a branch or online where offered, with the KYC documents.
  2. The jewellery is weighed and tested in the applicant's presence, and a valuation certificate is issued.
  3. The registered mobile number is linked to the loan, which later gives access to app services and queries.
  4. A sanction letter and the Key Facts Statement set out the amount, tenure and repayment terms.
  5. The agreement is signed, and disbursal follows once verification and the remaining formalities are complete.

After the loan is repaid in full, the directions provide for the gold to be returned within seven working days. A longer delay caused by the lender draws ₹5,000 for each day.

IIFL Finance Support for Gold Loan Applicants

IIFL Finance may offer a gold loan, subject to availability of the product. Every loan is based on the applicant's eligibility, the valuation of gold and the regulations in force. It may suit borrowers who like handling queries and statements through an app. Interest rates and fees may vary between products, on account of funding and risk factors.

As per the regulations and lender policy, money from a gold loan can be utilised for genuine personal or business needs, such as:

  • Stock for a small grocery or general store
  • Fees for a professional certification
  • A family member's hospital treatment
  • Repairs to a vehicle used for work

Since the jewellery is only kept as security, its ownership continues with the borrower. It is given back after the loan is repaid as agreed.

Conclusion

One way to follow up on a gold loan service request in the app is by quoting the original reference and date. The last reply and the one point that is still open are added along with it. Progress is first shown in the app's list of service requests, while the published phone lines and email work as another route. IIFL's grievance ladder goes from customer support to the nodal officer, and then on to the Principal Nodal Officer. The Gold Loan is useful for raising funds against the eligible gold; meanwhile, the ownership of the gold remains with the borrower.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1.

Which reference is used for a follow-up?

Ans.

The reference shown on the original query or ticket acknowledgement is used to follow up on a gold loan service request. Where it is not clear whether a ticket was created at all, IIFL's support team can confirm it.

Q2.

What goes into a follow-up about the unresolved point?

Ans.

In the follow-up, the final response is compared to the desired result and identifies what is yet not quite right. Only the necessary documents, with personal information redacted, are attached.

Q3.

Does a closed service request mean the gold loan is closed?

Ans.

No. A service request is a separate record from the loan account. Closing a ticket does not show payment credit, loan closure or release of gold.

Q4.

Is it useful to raise a duplicate request if there is no update?

Ans.

Not in most cases. Keeping the history in one place by following up on the original reference makes it possible for support to determine if a related complaint is needed.

Q5.

Is following a support ticket the same as checking an application?

Ans.

No. The application, top-up request, and support inquiry each have their own process, and a response from the support team is no guarantee of approval or payment.

Q6.

Can the follow-up still require a branch action?

Ans.

Yes, at times. Actions such as reviewing the pledged gold will require a visit to the branch, and the support staff can validate the reason and required documentation.
