Gold loan query not resolved: Understanding Follow-Up and Escalation

The correction for an error in payment, an awaited document has not been delivered, or a service request has been closed without resolving the query. In these instances, there is no clarity on what is to be done next. For a gold loan query not resolved, it is necessary to have a clear indication of the query itself, the previous correspondence along with the response.

Following up on this would require the borrower to follow the official grievance procedure of the regulated lender. A closure in the app will not suffice to resolve the issue in question, and escalation also has its own eligibility criteria. This article highlights the steps involved in handling the above instance.

Identify the Point That Remains Unanswered

A useful follow-up explains the gap between the original request and the lender’s response.

For example, a reply confirming receipt of a repayment does not necessarily explain why the loan statement still shows the disputed balance. The outstanding question concerns payment allocation or the account record.

The supporting chronology generally includes:

  • The original issue and requested outcome.
  • Loan and complaint references.
  • Submission dates and acknowledgements.
  • The latest substantive response.
  • Relevant statements, receipts or correspondence.

A substantive response addresses the concern rather than merely acknowledging receipt. Separating those two types of communication makes the remaining issue easier to explain.

Organise Documents Around the Complaint

Evidence is most useful when it relates directly to the disputed entry or missing service. A payment complaint may involve a transaction reference, bank debit record and corresponding loan statement. A document request may involve the original request and evidence that the document remains unavailable.

These are complaint records, rather than a universal fresh loan-application checklist. Any identity verification or additional documentation depends on the regulated lender’s approved process and the particular issue.

Dated screenshots help establish what appeared on screen. Sensitive information unrelated to the complaint remains masked, while live OTPs, MPINs and passwords remain private.

Use the Published Grievance Route

To escalate an unresolved gold loan issue, the relevant starting point is the regulated lender’s current grievance policy. It identifies the designated complaint channel, escalation contacts and applicable response arrangements.

The follow-up links the original reference with a concise explanation of what remains unresolved. Where another complaint record is required, retaining both references preserves the history.

An unavailable app feature does not prevent use of another published channel, such as the lender’s official complaint email or servicing branch. However, a web complaint form does not establish an equivalent route inside the app.

Any acknowledgement records submission; it does not establish acceptance of the requested correction.

Understand When RBI Escalation May Apply

RBI’s Integrated Ombudsman Scheme, 2026, effective from 1 July 2026, covers eligible complaints about deficiency in service by entities within its scope. The borrower first approaches the regulated lender with proof of the complaint.

External submission may be considered following an unsatisfactory reply, or after the applicable response period expires without a reply. RBI specifies 30 days, or a longer period prescribed under relevant payment-system guidelines where applicable. The scheme also specifies a filing limit of 90 days from expiry of the applicable timeline or the lender’s last communication, whichever is later. Other admissibility conditions apply. Eligible online complaints are submitted through.

Note: Complaint eligibility and filing periods are distinct from a guaranteed resolution deadline. An app ticket’s status does not determine eligibility by itself.

Where Gold-Loan Rules Become Relevant

The revised gold-collateral framework required implementation no later than 1 April 2026, with transitional treatment for loans sanctioned before a lender adopted it.

If the complaint concerns borrowing limits, the maximum LTV ratios for consumption loans against eligible collateral are:

Total consumption loan amount per borrower

Maximum LTV

Up to ₹2.5 lakh

85%

Above ₹2.5 lakh and up to ₹5 lakh

80%

Above ₹5 lakh

75%

LTV relates to outstanding borrowing and assesses collateral value. For bullet repayment loans, calculations include the total repayable at maturity. These lending limits do not prescribe complaint-resolution periods.

Verify Result against Original Request

A corrected statement delivered document or written explanation constitutes evidence concerning the request for an outcome. A closed service ticket will not constitute proof of loan closure, credited payment, or return of pledged gold.

The complaint filing process will not alter the payment terms. In cases of disputed payments or charges, a written reply from the lender about that specific account helps verify the present dues.

Conclusion

Solution will become evident once the response addresses the initial issue and the account record proves that the issue has been dealt with. Reference number acts as a continuation link, whereas the dated information serves as an answer to what still needs to be resolved. Neither closing of the ticket nor acknowledgment serves as a substitute for such comparison.

A gold loan query not resolved will either be subject to internal review or an eligible complaint depending on the response and appropriate conditions. The key point here is the difference between having the request registered and the actual issue being resolved. For the borrower, the important point here is whether the explanation or the provided service corresponds to the one requested.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1.

What happens if an app query remains unanswered?

Ans.

The existing reference, submission date and supporting records provide the basis for follow-up through the lender’s published complaint channel. The enquiry identifies the specific response or correction still outstanding.

Q2.

Does every overdue query escalate automatically?

Ans.

No universal automatic escalation follows from an app status. The lender’s published grievance procedure and applicable external complaint conditions determine the available route.

Q3.

Does a closed ticket mean the loan is closed?

Ans.

No. A service ticket and a loan account are separate records. Loan closure requires account-specific confirmation; ticket closure alone does not establish repayment completion or gold release.

Q4.

Is another identical complaint necessary?

Ans.

The original reference generally preserves continuity. The lender’s process determines whether further review uses that record or requires a new linked complaint.

Q5.

Which records support an unresolved grievance?

Ans.

The original complaint, dated acknowledgement, replies and relevant account evidence explain the dispute. A clear requested outcome helps identify whether the response addresses it.

Q6.

Does a complaint suspend repayments?

Ans.

A complaint alone does not revise the agreement or suspend dues. Any accepted adjustment, extension or correction is established separately through the applicable written confirmation.
