A ₹5 lakh requirement reaches the upper edge of the RBI’s middle LTV band, while IIFL’s published product ceiling remains lower. A 500000 loan against gold is therefore shaped by two limits: the value found during appraisal and the percentage advanced against it.

IIFL currently publishes annual gold-loan rates of 9.72%–27%, varying by scheme. Salary is not the sole eligibility measure, but KYC, ownership, purity, net weight and lender assessment remain relevant. This guide connects those variables with indicative gold weight, monthly cost, repayment choices, documents and the branch journey.

What Is a ₹5 Lakh Gold Loan?

gold loan of 500000 is secured by eligible jewellery that is pledged rather than sold. The lender holds the ornament during the facility, and it is released after full repayment or settlement under the applicable verification process.

LTV compares the outstanding loan with assessed collateral value. The RBI ceiling for a qualifying consumption loan above ₹2.5 lakh and up to ₹5 lakh is 80%. IIFL’s calculator currently states a lower product ceiling of up to 75%. These are maximum limits, not promises of sanction.

Eligibility Criteria for a ₹5 Lakh Gold Loan

IIFL’s published gold loan eligibility criteria include:

  • Indian residency
  • Age between 18 and 70 at disbursal
  • Rightful ownership of the jewellery
  • Eligible jewellery generally within the 18K–22K purity range
  • Valid identity and address records
  • Enough assessed net gold value for the requested amount

Salaried, self-employed and non-salaried applicants may be considered. Income proof or a credit score may not always be mandatory. This differs from personal loan eligibility, which commonly depends on income, existing obligations and credit history. IIFL’s standard product accepts eligible jewellery; its city pages state that coins and bars are not accepted.

How Much Gold May Be Required?

At IIFL’s published ceiling of up to 75%, the assessed eligible gold value needed for ₹5 lakh would be about ₹6,66,667:

₹5,00,000 ÷ 0.75 = ₹6,66,667

IBJA’s 916-fineness AM reference on August 13, 2026 was ₹13,964.10 per gram. Using it only for orientation:

₹6,66,667 ÷ ₹13,964.10 = approximately 47.8 grams of net 22K gold

At the 80% regulatory ceiling, the same exercise gives about 44.8 grams. Neither result is an assured branch requirement. The prescribed price may be lower, and stones, strings, fastenings and other non-gold material are removed. Gross ornament weight may therefore be higher.

Interest Rate on a ₹5 Lakh Gold Loan

IIFL’s current gold loan interest rate table publishes 9.72%–27% per annum, beginning at 0.81% per month. The scheme and sanctioned terms determine the final rate.

Processing charges may be up to 2%, exclusive of GST. At that ceiling, the charge would be ₹10,000 before GST. IIFL lists nil part-payment and foreclosure charges, with at least seven days’ interest if closure occurs within seven days. The Key Facts Statement and sanction letter govern the actual cost.

The monthly payment on a 500000 loan falls as tenure grows, but total interest increases. IIFL currently publishes gold-loan tenure of up to 24 months, depending on the agreement. The 36-month row is a general comparison, not an IIFL tenure representation.

Repayment labels should not be treated as interchangeable. In a reducing-balance 5 lakh loan EMI, principal reduces with each instalment. Periodic interest servicing leaves the principal outstanding. Under the RBI directions, a bullet loan is one where both principal and interest become due at maturity.

Note: These calculations are illustrations, not IIFL quotations. Actual payment depends on the sanctioned rate, outstanding principal, repayment method and period outstanding.

Documents Required for a ₹5 Lakh Gold Loan

IIFL lists Aadhaar, PAN, passport, driving licence and voter ID among the KYC records that may be accepted. The exact documents required depend on the identity and address verification route; every listed document may not be required together.

The jewellery must reach the branch for physical appraisal. Salary slips, bank statements and income-tax returns are not ordinarily the principal eligibility records for a standard gold loan, but additional information may be sought according to the applicant’s circumstances and applicable checks.

How to Apply for a ₹5 Lakh Gold Loan with IIFL

The online form starts the request; the appraisal determines whether the collateral supports it.

  1. Enter basic contact and location details on IIFL’s Gold Loan page, or approach a branch.
  2. Complete mobile verification and select a convenient branch.
  3. Carry eligible jewellery and the applicable KYC records.
  4. Remain present while gross weight, purity and non-gold deductions are recorded.
  5. Review the amount, annual percentage rate, payment dates, charges and default terms.
  6. Complete the agreement if its terms are accepted. Disbursal follows successful verification and approval.

No fixed same-day processing time is assured. Timing depends on document completeness, appraisal, lender controls and branch operations.

Conclusion

A ₹5 lakh gold loan sits at the top of the RBI’s 80% consumption-loan LTV band. IIFL presently applies a lower product ceiling of up to 75%, producing an illustrative requirement of about 47.8 grams of net 22K gold at the stated IBJA reference. Actual appraisal may require more gross jewellery.

500000 loan also creates a choice between monthly affordability and total cost. EMI repayment steadily reduces principal, while interest-servicing and bullet structures create different maturity obligations. KYC and ownership checks remain relevant even when salary documents are not central. Reading the appraisal certificate together with the Key Facts Statement keeps the collateral calculation, repayment burden and consequences of non-payment in one view.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1.

What is the EMI for a ₹5 lakh gold loan?

Ans.

At an illustrative 12% per annum, the reducing-balance EMI is approximately ₹44,424 for 12 months and ₹23,537 for 24 months. Actual payment depends on the sanctioned rate and repayment structure. IIFL currently publishes tenure of up to 24 months, subject to the agreement.

Q2.

How much interest is payable on ₹5 lakh?

Ans.

At 12% per annum, illustrative total interest is approximately ₹33,093 over 12 months and ₹64,882 over 24 months under reducing-balance repayment. A periodic interest or bullet arrangement creates a different payment schedule and may produce a different total cost.

Q3.

Can a ₹5 lakh gold loan be considered without salary slips?

Ans.

IIFL states that income proof may not always be mandatory for its gold loan. Assessment instead focuses substantially on KYC, ownership and eligible collateral value. This does not assure approval, and additional information may be requested according to the product, applicant or applicable compliance checks.

Q4.

How much gold is needed for a ₹5 lakh loan?

Ans.

At IIFL’s published ceiling of up to 75% and the stated IBJA reference, the illustration gives about 47.8 grams of net 22K gold. The gross weight may be higher because the prescribed rate can differ and stones or other non-gold components are deducted.
