A large number of new applicants are presented with a golden loan application form at the branch and are unaware of the purpose of certain sections. Knowing the gold loan application form details beforehand makes the visit simpler and cuts down on corrections later.

A gold loan is a secured loan in which gold jewellery is pledged with a regulated lender. This blog goes through the main sections of a typical form and the declarations in it. The errors that commonly slow down verification are also covered.

Personal, Identity and Address Fields

The first part of the gold loan application form details records who the applicant is. It normally includes the full names, date of birth, gender, mobile phone number, and e-mail address, as stated in government documents.

Identity and address fields come next, along with the references of the documents used to prove them. These areas are derived from the RBI KYC norms, wherein the lender has to verify the identity and address of the borrower.

The current and permanent address may need separate entries where they are not the same. The address written on the form generally matches the address proof submitted along with it.

Gold, Bank and Nominee Sections

The gold section records the type of ornaments and the number of pieces being offered. It also carries a declaration that the jewellery being pledged belongs to the applicant.

Weight, purity and value are generally filled in by the lender's staff after the purity check, and not estimated by the applicant. Under the RBI (Lending Against Gold and Silver Collateral) Directions, 2025, the result is also given to the borrower as a valuation certificate.

The bank section captures the account holder's name, the account number and the IFSC code for disbursal. A nominee section may name a person to deal with the account in certain situations. A co-applicant section applies only where a second person shares the loan.

Declarations, Channels and Common Errors

The information required in a gold loan application also includes a few declarations. These commonly cover ownership of the gold, consent for KYC and credit checks, and acceptance of the loan terms. The purpose of the loan may also be asked for on the form.

Branch and online forms have similar types of questions to answer but the arrangement may be different. A form started online may still lead to a branch visit, since the gold is checked in person.

For anyone learning how to complete a gold loan application form, a few mismatches come up often. Examples include name that is not written as shown in the identity card, different address from that shown in the proof, absence of signature, and incomplete bank information.

Documents Required for a Gold Loan

The form is submitted along with a short set of KYC documents. These commonly include:

  • Photo identity proof, such as Aadhaar, passport or voter ID
  • Address proof, where the identity document is not current
  • PAN details, which lenders generally ask for during KYC, though alternative papers may be considered in some cases
  • A recent passport-size photograph
  • Bank account proof and the jewellery to be pledged

If the lender's procedures require it, a declaration or supporting records about who owns the ornaments may be asked for. The need for anything more is decided by the lender's policy, the amount of the loan and its assessment.

Eligibility and Valuation

Conditions relating to age, residency and ownership follow the regulations and the policy of each financier. Credit history may be looked at by the lender as part of its internal process.

The directions were implemented by regulated lenders from April 2026. When a borrower's combined gold and silver loans go above ₹2.5 lakh, a detailed credit assessment including repayment capacity is required. Up to ₹2.5 lakh, it is not required by the directions, though lenders may apply their own checks.

LTV, or loan-to-value, is the share of the gold's value that is lent. It is capped at 85% up to ₹2.5 lakh, 80% above that up to ₹5 lakh and 75% above ₹5 lakh. The gold is valued at the lower of the previous day's close and the 30-day average from IBJA or a SEBI-regulated exchange. The value is adjusted for purity, and net gold alone is taken into account.

Application Process

  1. The applicant fills in the personal, contact, bank and nominee sections of a regulated lender's form.
  2. KYC documents are submitted and matched against the details entered on the form.
  3. The jewellery is weighed and tested in the applicant's presence, and the staff record the result.
  4. A written sanction or offer may then be given with the Key Facts Statement, covering the amount, tenure and repayment terms.
  5. The agreement is signed, and disbursal follows once verification and the remaining formalities are complete.

After full repayment, the gold is to be returned within seven working days as per the directions. A delay on the lender's side beyond this carries compensation of ₹5,000 per day.

IIFL Finance Support for Gold Loan Applicants

A gold loan may be made available by IIFL Finance where the product is offered. Any loan depends on the applicant's eligibility, the assessment of the gold and the regulatory requirements of the time. It may suit first-time applicants who prefer a documented process. Interest and other charges can vary between products and lenders, as funding and risk costs are not the same.

As per the regulations and lender policy, the money can go towards legitimate personal or business needs, such as:

  • Opening stock for a small tailoring unit
  • Admission charges for a private school
  • A parent's eye surgery
  • Expenses of a religious ceremony at home

Ownership is not given up when the jewellery is pledged. It stays with the borrower, and the ornaments are returned on repayment in line with the lender's terms.

Conclusion

Order is observed in the gold loan application form, from personal particulars, then the gold section, followed by the bank and nominee sections. The gold loan application form details tie in directly with the KYC documents, so matching entries save time at verification. The weight, purity, and value of the gold are normally provided by the lender's staff rather than the individual applying for the gold loan. Ownership statements and consent statements are among the documents that get signed as part of the application process. It is through the gold loan that an individual gets access to money using acceptable collateral, which still belongs to the individual.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1.

What information does a gold-loan application form ask for?

Ans.

The gold loan application form details cover personal and contact information, KYC references, the gold offered, bank details and declarations. Assessment and approval fields are generally filled in by the lender's staff.

Q2.

Do online and branch forms always contain identical fields?

Ans.

No, the layout and order may differ between online and branch forms. The kinds of information collected are generally the same in both.

Q3.

Who completes the gold weight, purity and valuation fields?

Ans.

The lender's authorised staff generally record these after the purity check. The applicant's own estimate or purchase bill does not take the place of that assessment.

Q4.

What bank details go on the form?

Ans.

The account holder's name, account number and IFSC code are the details commonly asked for. Disbursal is generally made to the borrower's own account, not to an account held only by a relative or agent.

Q5.

Can the form require a co-applicant or nominee?

Ans.

It depends on the lender and the product. A nominee, a co-applicant and a guarantor are different roles, and the form marks which sections apply.

Q6.

Which declarations appear on the form before submission?

Ans.

The ownership, consent and loan-term declarations are the main ones. Any blank required fields are generally filled in before the form is signed.
