Aadhaar e-KYC Routes and EMI Basics for an ₹8,00,000 Gold Loan

One lender sends an OTP to the Aadhaar-linked mobile number, while another scans the QR code on the card. A third may ask the applicant to come to the branch. Many applicants wonder why the same Aadhaar is handled in such different ways.

A gold loan is a loan against gold ornaments, which a regulated lender keeps until repayment. This blog explains an ₹8,00,000 aadhaar loan and the reasons behind these different Aadhaar checks. It covers Aadhaar's role, the credit assessment at this amount, which lenders may use Aadhaar authentication and how EMIs work. The documents, valuation and application steps follow after that.

Aadhaar's Role in an ₹8,00,000 Gold Loan

This section explains what Aadhaar does in the file. Aadhaar confirms identity and address during KYC, which is the lender's check on who the customer is. It does not show income, existing loans or the value of the gold. At ₹8 lakh, those other factors carry most of the decision.

Credit Assessment at ₹8,00,000

The RBI (Lending Against Gold and Silver Collateral) Directions, 2025 cover gold loans and were implemented by regulated lenders from April 2026. No minimum credit score is laid down in them. The financier may look at credit history in line with its internal policy and the rules that apply.

Above ₹2.5 lakh of combined gold and silver loans, the directions call for a detailed credit assessment that includes repayment capacity. An ₹8,00,000 aadhaar loan is well past that point, so income records generally form part of the review. A PAN card is generally asked for at this loan size as part of KYC, tax and regulatory requirements.

Which Lenders May Use Aadhaar e-KYC

Aadhaar e-KYC means that the lender confirms identity through UIDAI's own records, by OTP or biometrics. This facility is not open to all lenders in the same way.

Banks and Permitted Entities

Under section 11A of the Prevention of Money-laundering Act, banks may carry out Aadhaar authentication. Other regulated entities, including some NBFCs, may do so only where they are specifically permitted under the law.

Offline Verification and the QR Code

A lender without that permission may still use Aadhaar through offline routes. These include the secure QR code on the card or a downloaded offline XML file, which UIDAI signs digitally.

In-Person and Video KYC

Some lenders verify Aadhaar or another officially valid document at the branch. Others may use video-based KYC, where the RBI's KYC directions allow it. A person asking can I get ₹8,00,000 loan on aadhaar card may come across any of these routes, depending on the lender.

EMI and Repayment at This Size

An EMI, or equated monthly instalment, is a fixed monthly payment that covers part of the interest and part of the principal. Over the tenure, the interest share falls and the principal share rises.

EMIs are not the only way a gold loan is repaid. Some take interest each month and the principal at the end. Others use a single bullet payment, which the directions cap at 12 months for consumption loans.

At this amount, the repayment review generally checks whether the chosen plan fits the borrower's income. The Key Facts Statement shows the instalment and the total cost before signing.

Documents Required for an ₹8,00,000 Gold Loan

An ₹8,00,000 loan on aadhaar card against gold generally needs the following papers.

  • Aadhaar, or another officially valid document
  • PAN card, which is generally required for a loan of this amount under KYC, tax and regulatory requirements
  • Salary slips, ITR or bank statements for the repayment review
  • A recent photograph
  • The gold ornaments

The lender may seek a declaration or supporting records on ownership of the jewellery, where its procedures call for this. Any further papers would depend on the lender's policy, the loan amount and the assessment.

Eligibility and Valuation

Age, residency and ownership conditions are set by the applicable rules and the lender's policy. The directions allow up to 1 kg of gold ornaments and 50 grams of bank-issued coins per borrower.

LTV, or loan-to-value, is the share of the gold's value that may be lent. It is 85% up to ₹2.5 lakh, 80% up to ₹5 lakh and 75% above. An ₹8,00,000 aadhaar card loan therefore falls in the 75% slab.

The gold is valued at the lower of the previous day's closing price and the 30-day average for its purity. These prices are published by IBJA or a SEBI-regulated exchange. Only the net gold content is counted. The rate of interest and fees are decided by each lender and can differ from product to product.

Application Process

  1. The applicant approaches a regulated lender at a branch or through its official app or website.
  2. KYC is completed through the Aadhaar route that the lender is permitted to use, and PAN is verified.
  3. The credit report and income records are reviewed with the applicant's consent.
  4. The ornaments are tested and weighed in the applicant's presence, and the EMI or other plan is set out in writing.
  5. The agreement is signed, and disbursal follows once verification and the remaining formalities are complete.

Where the loan is approved, the money is paid into the borrower's own bank account as per the lender's procedures. After full repayment, the gold is generally released within seven working days. The directions provide ₹5,000 a day for any delay caused by the lender.

IIFL Finance Support for Gold Loan Applicants

An ₹8 lakh gold loan may be offered by IIFL Finance. Its availability depends on the product on offer, the borrower's eligibility, the assessment of the gold and the regulations prevailing at the time. KYC follows the Aadhaar route available to the lender, and the repayment plan is shared in writing before signing.

Within lender policy and the rules, the money raised can be put to use for legitimate needs, such as:

  • Working capital for a wholesale trading firm
  • A postgraduate degree in another city
  • A planned surgery and recovery care
  • Machinery for a small workshop

As the gold is pledged and not sold, the borrower generally remains its owner, subject to repayment and the lender's terms.

Conclusion

Aadhaar checks differ across lenders partly because the law allows e-KYC authentication only to banks and specifically permitted entities. Other lenders may rely on the QR code, offline XML, video KYC or a branch visit. At ₹8,00,000, a detailed credit assessment with repayment capacity applies and PAN is generally required. The 75% slab caps the loan against the gold's net value. An ₹8,00,000 aadhaar loan is, in practice, a gold loan in which Aadhaar supports the KYC step.

A gold loan of this size can help in raising funds against eligible gold, while ownership stays with the borrower. Valuation, disclosures and custody are carried out as per the applicable policies and regulations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1.

Yes, as a gold loan, once the lender's checks are completed. The 75% slab applies. A detailed credit assessment, including repayment capacity, is carried out above ₹2.5 lakh.

Q2.

Q3.

Can I get a ₹2 lakh loan on my Aadhaar card?

What documents are required in addition to an Aadhaar card for an ₹8 Lakh loan?

Ans.

PAN, income records, a photograph and the ornaments are generally needed. An ₹8,00,000 aadhar loan against gold also involves a review of the credit report with consent.
