Aadhaar has removed a good deal of paperwork from everyday life. An OTP on a phone can now confirm a person's name and address within moments. It is natural, then, to wonder how far this goes when the loan in question is close to ₹10 lakh.

A gold loan is a loan taken against jewellery that a regulated lender holds until repayment. Here, the idea of a 960000 aadhaar loan is looked at in parts: what Aadhaar does, which KYC route applies and what else lenders check. The documents, the valuation and the steps to apply are covered as well.

Aadhaar's Job in a ₹9,60,000 Gold Loan

Aadhaar answers one question for the lender, which is who the person is and where the person lives. This is achieved via e-KYC, which refers to the electronic process used by the lending institution for verifying the identity of the borrower. It makes no mention of the borrower’s income or loan repayment history.

Therefore, a 960000 aadhaar loan is essentially a gold loan where Aadhaar handles the issue of identity and the rest of the documentation is prepared using other documents.

The Credit Check at This Amount

The RBI (Lending Against Gold and Silver Collateral) Directions, 2025 govern gold loans, and regulated lenders implemented them from April 2026. No minimum credit score is fixed in them. A lender may still consider credit history under its own policy.

Once total gold and silver loans go above ₹2.5 lakh, a detailed credit assessment covering repayment capacity is required. Up to that mark the directions do not call for it, though lenders may follow their own checks. A PAN card is also generally required for a loan of this size. Typing 960000 aadhar loan, with the shorter spelling, leads to the same answer.

Repayment capacity means the ability to pay interest and principal on time. Salary credits, business income, existing EMIs and other gold loans may be looked at. None of this shows up in an Aadhaar check, which is why a separate review takes place.

KYC Routes Above ₹60,000

Not every Aadhaar check is the same, and the route a lender uses depends partly on the loan amount.

OTP-Based e-KYC

OTP e-KYC confirms identity through a code sent to the mobile number linked with Aadhaar. When it is used without the customer present, KYC rules generally limit term loans opened this way to ₹60,000 a year. A ₹9,60,000 loan is far beyond that.

Video KYC and Biometric e-KYC

For larger amounts, lenders generally use a fuller check. Video KYC, also called V-CIP, is a live video call with an official of the lender, who looks at the original documents on screen. Biometric e-KYC uses a fingerprint or iris scan in place of an OTP.

In-Person KYC at the Branch

Many gold loan borrowers visit a branch in any case, since the jewellery has to be checked. There, Aadhaar or another officially valid document is verified in person. People asking can I get 960000 loan on aadhaar card may complete KYC this way, with the gold checked during the same visit.

Documents Required for a ₹9,60,000 Gold Loan

  • Aadhaar, or another officially valid document, for identity and address
  • PAN card, generally required for a loan of this size under applicable KYC, tax and regulatory requirements
  • A recent passport-size photograph
  • Salary slips, ITR or bank statements for the repayment review
  • Details of any existing gold or silver loans
  • The ornaments to be pledged

Some lenders may accept a masked Aadhaar copy, which shows only the last four digits. Records or a declaration on ownership of the jewellery may also be sought. Any other papers depend on the lender's policy and the loan amount.

Eligibility and Valuation

Conditions on age, residency and ownership depend on the applicable rules and the lender's policy. Under the directions, a borrower may pledge up to 1 kg of gold ornaments and 50 grams of bank-issued coins.

LTV ratio is the percentage of the total worth of the gold that can be borrowed as a loan. For the initial ₹2.5 lakh, it is 85%, for ₹2.5 lakh to ₹5 lakh it is 80%, and above ₹5 lakh it is 75%. Thus, a loan of ₹960000 through the aadhaar card belongs to the 75% slab.

The gold is valued at the lower of the previous day's close and the 30-day average from IBJA or a SEBI-regulated exchange. The price is adjusted for purity, and only net gold content is counted.

Application Process

  1. The applicant starts at a regulated lender's branch or on its website or app.
  2. KYC using Aadhaar is done through a process which fits the loan amount, such as Video KYC or offline verification.
  3. PAN is verified, and the credit report is obtained after obtaining consent.
  4. The jewellery is weighed and tested, and the bank discloses the amount, interest rates and other relevant information.
  5. Signatures are obtained, and once all verifications are made and the procedure is over, the money is disbursed.

The gold is generally released within seven working days of full repayment. If the lender delays it, the directions provide ₹5,000 a day.

IIFL Finance Support for Gold Loan Applicants

IIFL Finance may make a gold loan of ₹9.6 lakh available. This depends on product availability, eligibility, the collateral assessment and the regulations in force. Its products may be framed for borrowers who use Aadhaar for KYC and hold enough eligible gold. The funds, as allowed by lender policy and the rules in force, may meet legitimate needs such as:

  • Expanding stock for a hardware or electrical shop
  • Postgraduate fees for a family member
  • Treatment and recovery costs after surgery
  • A daughter's wedding expenses

The pledging of the gold does not affect ownership of it. Normally, the ownership stays with the borrower provided that the loan is paid off as agreed.

Conclusion

Whereas Aadhaar proves your identity and your address, it is not the only factor on which the loan would be sanctioned. Since the total loan amount is Rs. 9,60,000, usually, e-KYC through OTP would be insufficient, therefore, video KYC or biometric KYC would become necessary. PAN card becomes mandatory, and repayment capacity is assessed above ₹2.5 lakh. The amount itself is linked to net gold value and the 75% slab. A 960000 aadhaar loan is, in this sense, a gold loan with Aadhaar doing the identity work.

Through such a loan, funds may be raised against eligible gold while the borrower keeps ownership of the ornaments. Valuation, disclosures and the handling of the gold are done according to the applicable policies and regulations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1.

How much loan can I get from my Aadhaar card?

Ans.

There is no specified sum under the scheme. The value of the gold and the 75% slab determine the upper cap on a loan of 960000 aadhaar whereas Aadhaar manages the issue of identity.

Q2.

Can I get a ₹3 lakh loan on my Aadhaar card?

Ans.

This may be possible via the gold loan, using Aadhaar for the KYC process. An amount of ₹3 lakh would fall under the 80% slab. A thorough credit evaluation would be done as the amount exceeds ₹2.5 lakh.

Q3.

How much gold loan for ₹70,000 salary?

Ans.

Salary alone does not set it. The gold's value and the LTV slab set the upper limit, and income is reviewed for repayment capacity above ₹2.5 lakh.

Q4.

Can I get a ₹9,60,000 loan using only an Aadhaar card without income proof?

Ans.

Not easily. Anything above ₹2.5 lakh requires a thorough repayment capacity test, and this usually requires income documents. The 960000 rupees loan on aadhaar card also usually requires a PAN.
