Binay Kumar Mishra

Binay Kumar Mishra serves as the Chief Legal Officer of IIFL Finance and brings with him over 21 years of extensive experience in the Banking and Financial Services industry.

A law graduate from Symbiosis Law School, Pune University, Binay began his legal career in 2004 as an arguing counsel before the Hon’ble Bombay High Court, where he gained foundational experience in civil, commercial, and banking litigation. Over the years, he has held senior legal leadership roles at several of India’s leading financial institutions, including ICICI Bank, Citibank N.A., Axis Bank, and Reliance Capital.

Binay has deep expertise in litigation strategy, regulatory compliance, governance, enforcement, stressed asset resolution, and corporate legal advisory. He has consistently demonstrated the ability to align legal strategy with business imperatives and regulatory expectations, while managing complex and multi-jurisdictional legal portfolios.

Prior to joining IIFL Finance, Binay served as the Chief Legal Officer of Srei Equipment Finance Limited and Srei Infrastructure Finance Limited. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in navigating the companies through a period of significant regulatory oversight, handling high-stakes litigation, IBC proceedings, and strategic regulatory engagements.

Binay is widely respected for his legal acumen, strategic foresight, and integrity, and continues to serve as a trusted legal advisor to Boards, promoters, and senior management within the financial services sector.
