Corporate Social Responsibility

IIFL is a socially aware organization which has integrated Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) into its value system quite early on in its growth journey. Using wealth wisely for the larger benefit of society is ingrained in our DNA. What started by way of promoting financial literacy has now bloomed into poverty alleviation and economic development through intensive need based programmes under our CSR arm, IIFL Foundation.

During the financial year 2015-16, IIFL deployed 1.92% of its average net profits (computed as per the relevant provisions of Companies Act 2013) of the preceding three years on CSR projects. At the group level, besides the Company, eight subsidiary companies came under the purview of the provisions for CSR for the year. During the fiscal year 2015-16, the group made a total deployment of Rs 98.19 million into CSR activities.

All CSR efforts are directed towards identifying and undertaking projects that hold potential and promise to create long-term social impact, to empower marginalized communities and enhance their quality of life. In alignment with this objective, in financial year 2015-16, the Company undertook a number of projects in the core areas of water management, providing livelihood, healthcare, education and financial literacy.

Key Initiatives

IIFL's CSR has gained the necessary momentum to implement large scale projects, which will have substantial sustainable impact. The capabilities, systems and processes needed to take up big activities in an organised manner are also in place.

Some of the latest CSR initiatives conducted by IIFL Foundation include education in Rajasthan, Gram Vardhan Yojana or vocational training for tribal development, checking dams and other rainwater harvesting structures, women empowerment programmes, financial literacy and demonetisation awareness drives in Mumbai schools.
